Week 2 reflection

Our week as been almost spot on with timing and planning other then throwing another hike in, in our own proctor woods. This is week was very similar to last week with our schedule. We completed Mt Kersarge, Smith Pond and Bulk Head. We hiked these three mountains on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Our book is moving smoothly with next week only having to complete one more page and final touches on the book timing is looking perfect. I’m excited to show the community what we have been working on although I’m sad it’s coming to an end.

Mt Kersarge was a very fun hike and we had a few other groups join us for the adventure. The drive up was beautiful and the day we did it was perfect. The green trees we perfectly lined up the road into the state park. There was even a playgroup at the bottom of the trailhead. The actual hike was pretty gradual but with one straight up boulder rock climbing part. Like quite literally rock climbing a whole section. But other than that it was a nice hike and didn’t feel very long. Once it opens up at the top it became really winding, so we decided to go into the fire lookout. I’m glad we did beacsue we met a nice man working up there by the name of Ron. We hung out with him for a very long time and learned a lot about fires. He also saw smoke in the distance and showed us how he uses his compass to call it in to the other tower on Cardigan which we also visited. Very cool to witness how that all worked.

We also hiked Smith Pond which was a very relaxed hike with a very cool pound at the top. The trail was difficult but closer to the top we intersected with a road I assume comes from another side. So that was a lot easier on the ankles. There were a few canoes up top, and a few benches that looked like you could use them for picnics. That was probably one of our easiest hikes. Then we hiked the Bulkhead and I was pissed. I really didn’t wake up on the right side of the bed that morning but I’m really happy we did it. It’s wasn’t easy especially when you have a bad attitude and had some pretty strap sections but I’m happy we did it. Felt like a good way to close our jokes around proctor and was a little full circle moment. I took the same pictures from the same sport I hiked it at my second day at proctor sophomore year with Mac house.

Over all I think this week was a very successful week. We had a mix of a few different hikes and it was cool to have hiked Mt Kersarge and have one view and hike Bulkhead a day later and have a different view of same area. I think what we could have done better would be maybe spreading the hikes apart instead of doing them back to back because then we could have completed a page in between and maybe not been so sore. But over all a very fun week and I’m excited to show what we have done at express fess.
